Sound Healing, in various forms has been around for hundreds of years and has been practiced by almost every culture that has a widespread religion in some form. Everything in our world is vibrating. Everything that vibrates has a specific frequency at which it vibrates and resonates. This is a greatly underutilized and misunderstood power of our universe, and this form of healing is slowly being repopularized in our modern age.
What is Sound Healing?
How Does It Work?
My approach to Sound Healing is multi faceted. On the most fundamental and scientific level a Sound Healing experience is a safe space, and an escape from the onslaught of loud and harsh sounds we experience living in the city, allowing the nervous system to finally relax and begin to heal itself.
Additionally, through providing a wash of resonant frequencies, the sympathetic resonance of ones body, organs, bones, fluids and very molecules achieved through sound vibrations begin to “entrain” any misaligned or damaged pieces to begin to return to there natural state. Much like finding a Christmas light that is out, and by screwing it back in activating an entire strand.
On a more esoteric level, I also believe in and utilize the power of thought and intention. The simple practice of believing in something working most often actually makes something work. Many people call this the “Placebo effect” and is most often mentioned as if it was negative idea. But “Placebo” medications still heal people. Was the purpose of the medication not to heal someone? I’d say a Placebo Effect is a success of the medication. It makes no difference whether it is an actual chemical process or a mental process. Actually many cases have shown that a mental process actually created a chemical process. By having the intention to use sound vibration to heal, sound vibration becomes healing.
About Julian
For the last 10 years I have been working in the Chicago area as a professional musician and music teacher. After moving from my hometown of Boulder CO in 2010, I studied music at Columbia College Chicago and graduated in 2015, which led me to pursue many different musical opportunities. including playing at just about every venue in the Chicago area, teaching at several music schools, playing alongside some of Chicago's greatest musicians, and recording at several of the most highly trafficked music studios in the city. Music has always been my passion and the power of music and sound was made apparent to me at a young age. I also discovered in my upbringing that I was deeply empathic, and that many times I would be feeling other people's subtle emotions and mistaking them for my own. This caused me to have many issues with anxiety in social settings, but as I opened up to the sensation and began to learn to sort through it I began to see how beautiful it was. it also allowed me to emote through playing music in a much more deep way, and play reactively to what I was feeling in the room. This interconnectedness I felt was sacred. I knew it was important.
Simultaneous to my music education I had been on a lifelong spiritual pursuit, reading and absorbing everything I could about all the different religions and what the message was. I learned about mortality and philosophy of life and the Ego from Buddhism, I learned how important nature was to me through various Earth based spiritualities, I learned how thoughts impact our reality through “New Thought” and how to aspire to see the immense beauty in every moment and the importance of breath through Mindfulness. Then I began to connect the dots connecting my music career and my passion for spirituality. I felt called to do something philanthropic and use my gifts as a musician and as an empath.
